Privacy Policy

1 General

We collect, store, process, and use personal data you provide to us under the provisions of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679.

Personal data is all data relating to personally identifiable information of a natural person, e.g. your given name, surname, or email address.

To provide you with the best possible control over your data this privacy policy explains which data is collected by this website, (named "website" in what follows), how this data is used, and what rights you have to control collection and processing of your data.

2 Collection, Processing, Storage and Use of your Data

2.1 Log Data When You Visit Our Website

This website is available to everyone without prior registration. Your internet browser automatically sends the following information to our servers:

  • Public (internet) IP address of your device
  • Date and time of access
  • URL of the referring website
  • HTTP response code
  • Name of the retrieved file
  • The amount of data sent
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system of your device
This log data is stored in our web server log files according to GDPR Art. 6 Para. 1 Subpar. f. Log data is not stored together with other personal data.

Log data is used for security and technical administration purposes only (to track errors and prevent misuses). All log data will be deleted after seven days. It may be kept longer if necessary for the prosecution of illegal use.

2.2 Cookies

This website does not use cookies.

Third-party cookies may be set in cases where third-party content is embedded into this website, e.g. GitHub gists in blog posts. For more information on these cookies, please refer to the GitHub Privacy Statement.

2.3 Contacting us by Email

You may contact us electronically using email via our email address as set out above.

If you decide to contact us via email your data will be stored on our email servers. We use the data to contact you and process your request according to GDPR Art. 6 Para. 1 Subpar. f.

Your data will be deleted as soon as processing your request is fully completed. If you conclude a contract with us on the basis of an electronic contact, your data will be retained as long as required for the fulfillment of the contract (including all contractual and legal obligations) or for fulfilling pre-contractual measures.

You have the right to object to the use of your personal data at any time (again by email) without any other transmission costs. In this case your data will be deleted immediately unless required otherwise by legal or contractual obligations.

3 Location of your Data/Data Security

Our servers and data centers are owned by domainfactory GmbH, Oskar-Messter-Str. 33, 85737 Ismaning, Germany.

We process your personal data within the European Union, however, we also use services made available by third party providers.

We will take all necessary measures to ensure that your personal data is protected when it is sent to third party providers operating outside of the jurisdiction of the GDPR. We achieve this either by concluding data protection contracts or by ensuring that third party providers are certified according to suitable security standards, e.g. the EU-US data protection shield.

We enforce TLS encryption on our website for the protection of your personal data. You can identify an encrypted connection by the lock symbol displayed in your web brower's address bar. Most web browsers also allow you to verify the security of the connection, by clicking or tapping bespoke lock icon.

4 Providing your Personal Data to Others

We will not disclose any personal data unless required for the purpose of fulfilling a contract or for technical reasons, e.g. delivering our website to you electronically. Most importantly, we will not sell your personal data for advertising or marketing purposes.

In some cases, we are required to provide your data to others. For example, our hosting providers need to process your personal information on our behalf. When we provide your data to others, this will happen under the terms set out in Art. 28 Para. 3 GDPR.

5 Your Rights

5.1 Right to Information

You have the right to request information from us free of charge at any time as to whether we are processing personal data relating to you. If this is the case you are entitled to access this personal data in a reasonable electronic format, see 5.6. In order to protect your data, we will conduct an identity check for each such request.

5.2 Right to Rectification

You have the right to request us to rectify any inaccurate personal data. For the purposes of processing your personal data, you have the right to request completion of incomplete personal data.

5.3 Right to Erasure

You have the right, under certain circumstances, to request deletion of your personal data without undue delay.

Cases in which you do not have the right to erasure include circumstances where processing is required:

  • to excercise the right to free speech and information,
  • to comply with legal obligations,
  • for the establishment, excercise, or defense of legal claims.

5.4 Right to Restrict Processing

You have the right, under certain conditions, to request us to restrict the processing of your personal data.

As long as processing of your personal data is limited, this data will only be processed with your consent or if required to validate it, excercise or defend legal claims, protect the rights of another natural or legal person, or for reasons of an important public interest of the European Union or a member state.

5.5 Right to Object to Processing

If data is processed based on Art. 6, Para. 1, Subpar. e or Art. 6, Para. 1, Subpar. f GDPR, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data at any time for reasons arising from your particular situation.

We will no longer process your personal data after your objection unless there are demonstrably compelling reasons that outweigh the interests, rights and freedoms of the data subject, or the processing serves to assert, exercise or defend legal claims.

5.6 Right to Data Portability

You have the right to receive the personal data stored about you in a structured, commonly used machine-readable format in accordance with Art. 20, Para. 1 GDPR.

5.7 Right to Complain to a Supervisory Authority

You have the right to appeal to a supervisory authority if you deem the processing of your personal data a breach of data protection regulations. You may lodge a complaint in the EU member state of your habitual residence, your place of work or the place of alleged infringement.

5.8 Right to Withdraw Consent

To the extend that data processing has been based on your consent, you have the right to revoke that consent at any time. By your revocation the legality of processing your personal data before the time of consent withdrawal will not be affected.

6 Amendments

We may update this privacy policy from time to time by publishing a new version of our website.
